Dante

Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) was an Italian poet born in Florence and is best known for his monumental work, "The Divine Comedy." He is a central figure in Italian literature and is often referred to as the "father of the Italian language." Dante spent his final years in Ravenna, where he passed away.
