Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805) was a German poet, philosopher, and playwright born in Marbach am Neckar, in the Duchy of Württemberg. He is renowned for his contributions to German literature and his influence on the development of modern drama. Schiller spent much of his later life in Weimar, where he became a key figure in the literary scene alongside Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
