Rumi (1207-1273) was a Persian poet, theologian, and mystic born in Balkh, Iran. He spent much of his life in Konya, where he composed some of the most celebrated works in Sufi literature, including the "Masnavi" and "Diwan-e Shams-e Tabrizi."
